Jazz pianist/organist, Brent "Doc" Watkins, who has a command of the keyboard like Manu has a command over the ball, or freetail bats, will be opening a new music venue/restaurant/bar in the Historic Pearl.

Jazz, Tx will focus on providing patrons with the best jazz, blues, big band, Texas swing, salsa, conjunto, and Americana in the city, according to a press release sent out this morning. Set to open its doors in Spring 2016, the joint is said to be come in at around 3,500 square feet, so there will be plenty of room to cut a rug. Polish up your sharp shoes and dust off those Bluebird 78s.

I can only hope that their will be a cheap reposado on the list because, by the sound of it, this is where I will be hanging my hat quite often.

On the cocktail side of the equation, Jake Corney formerly with Bohanan's, currently with Paramour and half of the H&C Ice Company founders will helm the bar menu. Lorenzo Morales, previously with Arcade Midtown Kitchen will design a Texas-inspired food menu that will pair with the jazzy (puns always intended) tunes while still staying on board at Old Main Assoc.
