Mexican Rock Band Zoé Celebrating New Album with San Antonio Show

A titanic if too-often overlooked force in the Latinx rock milieu since at least 2001, Mexican band Zoé crafts music that is a huge and heady blend of alternative rock, neo-psychedelic rock, and space rock. If that kind of thing sounds like your bag, then now is the perfect time to catch this band live. Thursday’s show at Aztec will come just seven days after Zoé drops its sixth LP Aztlán.

While the band’s entire catalog has that transcendent, mood-altering ability that is the hallmark of all great space rock outfits, the five-piece seems to get better at being themselves with each successive album. Aztlán, which will likely feature heavily at the band’s SA show, has been described by the band as their most activist, political work to date. Zoé, it seems, wouldn’t have felt right letting the current U.S. leadership’s policies and rhetoric towards Mexico go unaddressed on its new album.

$45-$110.62, Thu April 26, 8pm, Aztec Theatre, 104 N. St. Mary’s St., (210) 812-4355, theaztectheatre.com.
